Program Mission
To empower neurodiverse young adults with the communication, executive functioning, and life skills necessary to pursue meaningful employment, education, and independent living.
Program Overview
The Autism Axis Network Pre-Vocational & Workforce Readiness Program is a structured skill-development program designed for young adults ages 18–28 diagnosed with autism or related developmental differences.
This program supports individuals as they transition into adulthood by building foundational workplace skills, communication abilities, and independent living competencies. Participants engage in practical learning experiences that help them explore career interests, strengthen decision-making skills, and develop the confidence needed to navigate real-world environments.
Programming may be implemented in collaboration with schools, transition programs, community organizations, or workforce initiatives.
Core Skill Areas
Financial Literacy
Participants develop foundational financial management skills including budgeting, banking basics, saving strategies, and understanding credit and responsible spending.
Self-Discovery & Self-Advocacy
Students explore their strengths, interests, and learning styles while developing the confidence to communicate needs, request support, and advocate for themselves in academic, workplace, and community settings.
Executive Functioning Development
Instruction focuses on planning, organization, task initiation, time management, and goal tracking critical skills that support success in employment and independent living.
Job Readiness & Workplace Skills
Participants learn practical employment skills including resume development, job application navigation, mock interviews, workplace etiquette, communication with supervisors, and professional expectations.
Entrepreneurial Awareness
Students are introduced to foundational small business concepts including creative thinking, branding basics, and project-based learning experiences that foster independence and innovation.
Communication & Decision-Making
Structured activities support problem solving, appropriate workplace communication, personal boundary setting, and conflict resolution strategies.
Goal Setting & Personal Planning
Participants learn to create realistic short- and long-term goals and develop actionable steps toward achieving independence and career readiness.
Experiential Learning Opportunities
Whenever possible, programming may incorporate real-world exposure through:
• Career exploration panels
• Volunteer experiences
• Community outings
• Internship exploration opportunities
• Financial institution visits
• Small business project experiences
These opportunities allow participants to practice newly developed skills in authentic environments.
